Transfer your work on paper to canvas

Below is a video where I demonstrate how to take a drawing on paper and put it on the canvas. It’s kind of a modern improvement on the old method called pouncing – as that is pretty messy and was used for larger works, I’m not going to demonstrate that for you. But, just to touch on it…

You would create a drawing the exact size you were going to make the final painting. Then, go around the edges of your drawing and poke holes in it with a sharp pointy object. The holes would be close enough together on the outline so that when you would pounce a charcoal or black chalk dust filled pouch all over your original drawing, this powder or dust would go through the holes you made and you’d have a dotted outline on the painting surface.
